BRANDI BRADBURN
Brandi Bradburn is a director with unwavering fidelity to the script, a winning enthusiasm that earns the trust of her cast and crew, and an easy confidence as a capable leader. She thrives directing both drama and comedy and she is most often drawn to stories that involve conflict with family and relationships, be it a father-daughter trauma or an hysterically dysfunctional clan just trying to find their way.
Before becoming a director, she earned her MFA in film from Florida State University, followed by a two decade-long career as a television editor. When the cutting room could no longer hold her, she brought that experience to the set with her first episode on the show, Hart of Dixie. She was happily asked back the following season.
She has directed shows including Hart of Dixie, Charmed and five seasons of Dynasty. In between shows, she wrote and directed the neo-noir short film, Anti_Social, which was selected and debuted at the Ojai Film Festival.
Brandi lives in the world of storytelling and is steeped in the arts. She wrote and directed her first play in the 6th grade. She was a classical ballet dancer, actor and choreographer until she left for grad school. This background deeply informs the gravity of her work while envisioning the story, directing actors and creating purposeful blocking that all contribute to elegant and dynamic television.
Brandi has also squeezed in being a film professor at UCLA, FSU and Chapman. Her time as a professor helped her articulate her craft and identify her vision. She is a lifelong musician and even a recently recorded vocalist on the latest Iron and Wine album.
All this to say, Brandi is an artist and a leader. She brings a vivid and rooted vision to each project accompanied by an infectious enthusiasm. She preps to the teeth allowing for calm, informed decision making during production. This all translates to creating a fabulous vibe on set, winning over the cast and crew, making her days, and nailing story beats with performances and the lens.
Brandi is a member of the DGA, Television Academy, ACE, the DGA Women’s Steering committee, and Film Fatales.
